Getting started

1. Download and install Shendru from the Downloads page.
2. Open the app — it will request Microphone and Screen Recording permissions (required to capture system audio).
3. Join any supported meeting platform (Zoom, Google Meet, Teams, Slack, Discord).
4. Shendru will show a small overlay: “Meeting detected. Record?” — click Record.
5. After the meeting, open Shendru to see the transcript and AI summary.

Setting up AI summaries (BYOK)

1. Open Settings in Shendru.
2. Choose a provider: OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google AI.
3. Paste your API key. It is stored locally and never sent to Shendru servers.
4. Optionally specify a model, or leave blank for the recommended default.

Transcription options

Local (Whisper): Fully offline. Runs on Apple Neural Engine. Best for privacy.

Deepgram: Cloud-based. Better speaker diarization and speed. Free $200 credit (~400+ hours).

Supported platforms

Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Slack Huddles, Discord, and any browser-based meeting platform.
