Yes. During the beta period, all core features are free — auto-detection, local transcription, and AI summaries via BYOK. Paid plans will be introduced after the beta, and we'll give you plenty of notice.
No. Download, install, and use Shendru without creating an account, providing an email, or logging in. The only thing you optionally provide is your own AI API key for summaries.
BYOK means you connect your own OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google API key for AI-powered summaries. Your key is stored locally on your Mac and API calls go directly from your device to the provider — Shendru never sees your key or your transcripts.
Yes. Whisper runs entirely on your Mac using Apple Silicon's Neural Engine. You only need internet connectivity if you choose cloud transcription (Deepgram) or cloud AI summaries.
No. Shendru records your computer's system audio directly — no bot joins the meeting, no notification is sent to other participants, and the meeting platform has no awareness of Shendru.
Shendru currently supports macOS on Apple Silicon (M1, M2, M3, M4). Intel Mac support is planned. Windows and Linux are on the roadmap.
Very good for clear audio. For multi-speaker meetings with background noise or heavy accents, cloud transcription via Deepgram will give you better accuracy and speaker labels.
